Charlotte OC - Here Comes Trouble

The facts alone make a compelling introduction to CHARLOTTE OC: the daughter of a Malawian mother and an Irish father, Charlotte O'Connor grew up in Blackburn, England, and at 16 was already a global ambassador for surfwear brand Quiksilver. At 18 she landed her first record deal, and in 2014 the BBC named her “tipped for success”. Alongside rave reviews from Paper Magazine, Nylon and Billboard, the musician – who has toured with James Arthur and Tom Walker and whose songs have featured in hit series such as “Grey's Anatomy” and “Riverdale” – counts more than 100 million streams on Spotify alone.

But you get much closer to CHARLOTTE OC through her music. While the early songs on her debut For Kenny are still a dark premonition, merely hinting at shades of folk, R'n'B and downtempo electronica, after three EPs her second album Careless People delivered considerably weightier yet highly accessible alternative pop tracks. Over the course of her career, Charlotte has earned plenty of enthusiastic reviews celebrating her hypnotic, intense vocals as much as her at times dark and unflinchingly honest lyrics. Her more pared-back recent sound has only heightened the singer-songwriter's captivating pull – Here Comes Trouble is her first album in four years.
