Following 2023's Are You Lost Here?, the young Belgian singer-songwriter breaks new ground with this album – a work that sounds both expansive and deeply personal. Salt Moon City weaves the confessional songwriting intensity of artists such as Sufjan Stevens and Paolo Nutini together with the majestic sonic richness of Coldplay – while subtly hinting at the harmonic sophistication of Bach and Debussy.
The album feels like a film in widescreen. After two years of playing together with his band, Moon's sound has opened up: strings and horns run through the arrangements, turning quiet introspection into something radiant and communal.
At its centre is Moon's voice – soft, raw and unguarded – and his feel for songs that carry fragility and self-assurance in equal measure.
On Salt Moon City, Moon reveals himself as a producer, arranger and multi-instrumentalist in full command of his sound. He plays drums, bass, guitar and all the piano parts himself, creating an atmosphere that feels timeless and alive at once – a city of salt and memory, glowing somewhere between dream and daylight.
